This page explains how bookings, fares and supported payments work on the Khwantum Rides mobility platform. The public website provides service and company information; ride and delivery bookings are completed through the Khwantum Rides apps.
1. Booking through the Khwantum Rides apps
A booking is created when a rider selects an available service, provides the required trip or delivery details, reviews the applicable fare or fare estimate, chooses a payment method and confirms the booking in the app.
Availability depends on the service, location, operating hours, vehicle availability, route rules, driver or fleet availability, and any City-to-City queue or scheduling requirements.
2. Khwantum Rides services
- Sedan: private point-to-point rides.
- Mini Bus: shared open-pickup transport with seating subject to available capacity, up to 16 passengers.
- City to City: planned intercity transport with a fixed route fare, future booking, and taxi-rank or pickup-point options. City-to-City bookings must ordinarily be made at least 5 hours before the applicable departure time shown in the app.
- Delivery: Moving Only, Furniture and Business Stock deliveries using supported Bakkie or Mini Truck vehicles, with instant or scheduled booking where available.
3. Fares and charges
The amount payable depends on the selected service. Before a rider confirms a booking, the app will display the fare, fixed route price, estimated fare, pickup charge, delivery charge or other applicable price information available for that booking.
- Sedan fares may depend on trip distance, time and other displayed pricing factors.
- Mini Bus pricing may combine fixed pricing with pickup-to-destination distance and applicable fuel-related pricing components.
- City-to-City trips use a fixed route fare. Taxi-rank pickup does not carry a pickup charge; a separate pickup-point option may carry an additional charge based on the applicable distance or time.
- Delivery pricing may include a base fee, driver-to-pickup distance, pickup-to-drop-off distance, vehicle-size fee, loading or unloading fee and applicable service-specific extras.
Tolls, parking, waiting time, route changes, additional stops or other exceptional charges will only be charged where the booking flow or applicable service terms allow them and the charge is communicated as required.
4. Supported payment methods
Depending on availability, a booking may support one or more of the following payment methods:
- Card: processed through PayFast or another approved payment service shown in the app.
- Cash: paid as directed for an eligible booking.
- Voucher: subject to successful validation and redemption.
- Khwantum wallet: subject to available wallet balance, transaction rules and any limits shown in the app.
5. PayFast card payments
When PayFast is offered, the payment is completed using PayFast's secure payment environment. Khwantum Rides should not need to receive or store a rider's full card number, CVV or other sensitive card-authentication data when the transaction is processed in PayFast's hosted or approved payment flow.
A booking that requires successful electronic payment is not treated as paid merely because a rider attempted payment. The app or backend must receive a successful or verified payment status before the booking is treated as electronically paid.
PayFast is an independent payment service provider and its own terms and privacy practices may also apply to the payment transaction.
6. Failed, pending or reversed payments
If a payment is declined, cancelled, times out, remains pending or cannot be verified, the booking may remain unpaid or unconfirmed until a successful payment status is received or another permitted payment method is selected.
If a rider believes that a duplicate debit or incorrect electronic charge occurred, the rider should contact Khwantum Rides as soon as possible with the booking reference and payment information that can safely be shared. Khwantum Rides may verify the transaction with the relevant payment provider before any refund or correction is processed.
7. Vouchers and wallet payments
Vouchers must be valid, unused, supported by the platform and successfully validated before being accepted. Suspected counterfeit, duplicated, already-redeemed, manipulated or otherwise invalid vouchers may be rejected.
Wallet credits, debits, refunds and transfers are subject to the wallet balance and transaction records maintained by Khwantum Rides. A wallet transfer or credit may be delayed or reversed where necessary to correct an error, investigate fraud or comply with law.
8. Receipts and booking records
Electronic bookings should generate a booking or transaction reference. Riders should retain their booking reference and any receipt or payment confirmation until the service is completed and any payment query is resolved.
9. Refunds and cancellations
Refund eligibility depends on the circumstances of the booking and the applicable service rules. Please read the Refund & Cancellation Policy before confirming a booking.
10. Payment security and fraud prevention
Khwantum Rides may use transaction verification, account authentication, fraud monitoring, booking records and payment-provider status checks to reduce unauthorised or fraudulent transactions. Riders must not submit stolen payment credentials, false voucher data or another person's payment information without authority.
11. Support
For booking or payment support, contact admin@khwantumrides.com or info@khwantumrides.com. Include the booking reference where available, but do not send a full card number, CVV, PIN, password or one-time password by email.
